CITY CENTER. This central habitat, which is located in the Kunming region of the city, hosts an array of bird and plant species. Traditional Chinese houses, replete with grass roofs, line the streets of the market where a variety of items are sold. One section of the streets is dedicated to flowers and caged birds, hence the name.

XU HUI. This lively commercial street sells clothing of every description. Various shops display a myriad of styles, including stylish Western and international name brands. This is where well-to-do Shanghai residents shop for the finer things. Most boutiques are open daily from 10am-5pm, but indivdual business hours may vary.

JINGAN/HUANG PU. This long stretch of shops offers a dizzying array of items, with more than 600 shops offering anything a shopper could want. Stretching more than thee miles starting at the Shanghai Center, this pedestrian street is more than just a shopping strip; it has also become an area for locals and visitors to congregate and experience the culture of the city. XUHUI. This strip of boutiques and stalls offers a huge array of fun and trendy items. Most of the stores are small and feature inexpensive, but chic clothing and shoes. Remember to bargain at all of these shops ­ even in the boutiques ­ and you can get an even better deal. Individual business hours vary.

CITY NORTH. This large and centralized market houses hundreds of specialty shops that feature traditional food and local goods. It's a draw to both tourists and locals , so it's a great place to meet locals and view items of local and national interest.
